Memento Mori | DoP / Camera Operator

For our grad film, we decided to utilise the opportunity to the maximum. The script tackles LGBTQ+ experiences and prejudice in modern, right wing Poland. The film follows Felix, a loveable rogue who's encounter with Lucas, a closeted gay man, leads to disastrous consequences. 

 

Shot in both London and Warsaw, the film was a great exploration of the logistics and organisation necessary for drama.The vast number of locations was a great opportunity to create visual consistency to maintain continuity. 

The limited kit on the Poland side of the shoot was also a challenge, where practical light was paramount on the low light sequences.

On this project, we worked closely with our client who works mostly with reclaimed fabrics. Shot on the North Devon coast, we worked hard to explore and scout locations that would juxtapose the beauty of the clothing with the rugged nature of the area's landscape.

Again, natural light was a main element of the visual essence of the shoot. We worked hard and agains the temperamental weather to create the continuity of a day passing, over multiple shoot days, locations and model availability.

Something Fishy | Cinematographer / Camera Operator

"Something Fishy" was my first foray into shooting short film. The film was set in the 1950's and portrayed the darkly comic murder of an unfaithful husband via the means of fish fingers. Shooting on a closed set, and running my own department for the first time was an eye opening experience, and cemented my love of working on short films.

J for Jihad | 1st AC

After graduating university, I worked on the MA short, "J for Jihad." The film portrayed a sufferer of survivor's guilt from Syria, tackling with suicidal thoughts.
